PEARLINGTON PROJECT - 2009 - Finishing 14 Homes by 6/30/09
Since Hurricane Katrina, many families have been forced into FEMA trailers or MEMA cottages. Still, four years later, many homes still sit unfinished because the funding has run dry and the volunteer force has dwindled. The project goal is to finish 14 houses and be able to have these families move back into their new homes no later than set date - June 30th, 2009.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - To help us reach our goal, we are currently looking for experienced, electricians, plumbers and carpenters to come out to Pealington, MS to volunteer their services for a weekend to help these families get back into their homes. |

4,000 MILE TREK TO SAVE NEARLY 100 DOGS FROM BEING DESTROYED:
A shelter in central California is full to capacity w/ 120 dogs and the shelter manager is being required to euthanize all dogs that have been there 60 days or longer. Homes for 84 dogs have been found in Minnesota, so CAN-DO has been asked to facilitate the transportation of nearly 100 dogs from California to Minnesota. |
