Haiti - Eric Klein in the field
UPDATE – FROM THE FIELD: Day 2- January 18, 2010
All good- not much sleep- heading out down into Delmas neighbourhood(5-10miles from airport) – so far, we have established 1 POD(point of disto) outside the house where we r staying- just so those of u checking in know, the plan here is- we r setting up or identifying distribution points as we go along for our return in February (this info will also be passed along to other orgs/ngos coming in)the reason for this is so we can feed these “PODS” with supplies coming in from the nearby airport
will advise- THX, EK
UPDATE- REQUEST FROM THE FIELD- JANUARY 17, 2010 11:30 PM
– If people can please spread the word or if you have contacts-PLEASE USE THEM- they desperately need the biggest triage tents they make or mobile operating units that can be brought over on the barges(they r deftly out there, we have seen them in the past)-They r turning people away from the hospitals because they r at total capacity – we r tying to set up makeshift field hospitals- we also will need the equipment to run them successfully- generators, mobile ac units, water tanks, anesthesia/oxygen tanks, auto calves etc to make them operational-(the right people that u reach out to will know what it will take to make this happen) -there is obviously a need for everything out here…. I am sitting outside the house @11:30pm with a group of doctors out of Denver and this might be something u guys(facebook contacts) can start reaching out for- its a MAJOR necessity out here – please do what u can-thx ek
