Pearlington recovery center- a non profit organization that started in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina/Rita. Established by Herb Ritchie, Larry Randall, Laurie Spaschak and the many organizations that came and administered aid to the many residents that lost friends,family and houses by the wrath of these storms. First meeting the immediate need of food, clothing and temporary shelter, the center has morphed into one of the most productive revitalization centers in Hancock County, Mississippi. Read more

FEMA to Let Katrina Victims Move From Trailers Into Hotels

“The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced yesterday that it will allow 60,000 families displaced by Hurricane Katrina and now living in FEMA-provided trailers on the Gulf Coast to move into hotel or motel rooms if they are concerned about formaldehyde gas in their trailers.”

Ready for Reading Program under way...

The children of Rwanda are ready for reading. The government has just enacted a law allowing all the children, male and female, to attend school for free. Unfortunately, they have no resources to provide books and proper teaching. The International Educational Exchange is teaming up with CAN-DO and is scheduled to leave for Rwanda in September 10th/2007 to implement and execute the Ready for Reading program.
